PARENT INFORMATION - Work Assessment Program

Hooper Academy Work Assessment Program

This work assessment program was created to stimulate and increase participation and involvement by all families in maintenance and other activities at Hooper Academy and was approved by the West Montgomery Education Foundation Board Members. Families who do not wish to participate, may elect to pay the optional assessment of $480.00 per school year.

Program Guidelines

1. Work Verification Forms are available in the office and show details of work performed, the number of hours worked, a space for your signature, and a space for the form to be signed by an authorizing member. Each individual or family is responsible for completing, signing, acquiring an authorizing members signature and turning in the form to the office. Authorizing members are any member of the current Board of Trustees, Headmaster, Booster Club officers, PTA officers, Fine Arts officers or teachers in charge of a class trip. Forms turned in without one of these signatures will not be credited to your account. All forms must turned in by the end of the following month that the work was performed in. For assessment program purposes the school year runs from June 1st to May 31st each year.

2. Assessment will be prorated according to hours worked.

Example

Work hours required for each family: 24 x 20.00 = $480.00
Work hours credited to your family: 16 x 20.00 = $320.00
Assessment due for the year: = $160.00

3. Assessment updates will be mailed before the Christmas break to inform participates of the status of their Work Assessment account.

4. Statements for assessments will be mailed April 15th each year and are due on May 31st of the school year. All Work Verification Forms and assessments due must be completed or paid in full before final report cards are issued.

5. Work performed on school grounds, in or on facilities, money-making projects, concessions, providing transportation for student groups, or other approved work, will count as work hour credits. Hours worked over 24 per year will not be forwarded to the next year. Donations of hours from one family to another will not be allowed. Any family having trouble acquiring hours may appeal to the headmaster.

Daytime Class Trips

1. The teacher or teachers responsible for the class trips will decide how many chaperones are needed for each trip based on transportation and supervision needs. These chaperones will be the only ones to receive work hour credits. The teacher in charge will be responsible for signing work verification forms

2. Work hours for these events will be calculated by when the class leaves the campus and when the class returns to the campus.

3. For overnight tour trips (New York, Boston, Washington D.C. etc.) chaperones will be allowed a total of 12 hours for the trip.
